Searching in Salesforce

Searching

  • Salesforce is designed to take advantage of text searching more than finding things in menus.  Try to get accustomed to typing the first few letters of something you are looking for.
  • To find data, type a few letters of what you would like to find in the search bar at the top of the screen and press Enter. Note that recently accessed items will start to appear as you type.  To filter by object type (Outreach Activities, Event/Classes, etc.), select it from the drop-down to the left of the search bar.  The default is "All".

  • Recently accessed items for each tab can be accessed by clicking the down-arrow next to each tab.

Search Results

After searching, the Search Results page will appear.

  1. Along the left, objects where search results were found are listed in order by largest number of search results
  2. To the right are detailed search results with additional fields for context. Up to 5 results are shown. Click “View More” to see up to 50 results.  Use filtered list views and reports to see more than 50 results
