Accessing Apps (sets of tabs) in Salesforce

Overview

A Lightning App is a collection of a customized tabs, like Contacts, and associated page layouts.  Having often used tabs easily accessible, along with custom page layouts that show details of a particular record, can enhance productivity and ease of use as many of us that use Salesforce have very different roles.  Having a multitude of Apps available provides a means for those that work differently than others to have an alternative look and feel when using Salesforce.


Below are some Apps we have with reasoning why that App may work for you.  If you want to move ahead to the instructions, rather than read about the available custom ILR Apps, please scroll down to right below the heading – ILR MarComm.

ILR Prog
Most people will use this app. It is focused on providing an efficient experience for Program staff, and includes access to the Outreach Activity Coordination form.

ILR Core
Balanced App that has the details of the record selected on half the page and the highly used associated Related Lists on the other half of the page.  All the Related Lists are available in the Related tab and do not take up space on the Details tab.


ILR Core – Wide
For those who find Lightning overly busy and the content within Lightning challenging to digest, this App may appeal to you as the look and feel has many similarities to Classic.  Record detail spans the entire width and length of the page and all the Related Lists are available underneath the record details, rather than in the Related tab.


ILR Core – Hybrid
A mix of a more traditional Lightning App and components of a typical Classic look.  A records detail spans most of the page, from left to right, and Related Lists are available underneath the detail of the record, like Classic.  Quick Links for easy access to Related List record details and often used Related Lists on the right hand side of the record detail provide components of a Lightning experience.


ILR Core – Registration
Catered to those who check-in and need to make modifications to new registrations.  The App only includes tabs, such as Contacts, that are relevant to new registrations and has guided instructions on each relevant object (tab) for checking in new registrations.

ILR MarComm
Marketing and Communications focused App that provides tabs that are commonly used by our Marketing and Communications staff and a plentiful amount of detail on the record page Related Lists
 
ILR Grad
Provides access to tabs related to the Grad marketing and admissions process.

 

App Access Instructions

1) If you're currently in Classic, on the top right hand side, click on Switch to Lightning Experience.

2) The name of the App you’re in is reflected underneath the ILR School logo on the top left hand side and to the right of the 9 dots beneath the logo (also referred to as the Waffle).
NOTE – The App you’re in when exiting Salesforce, in Lightning, will be the same one you’re in when you log back in to Salesforce.

3) Click on the 9 dots (waffle).  A drop-down box will appear with the ability to perform a search.  In the search box, type in ilr.  All of the custom ILR Apps will appear.  Select the App of choice.  View More, if selected, will display all the available Apps as well as all the objects (tabs).  View More can come in handy if the search results from the search box don’t returning expected or desired results.
