Description
This article describes the software available on Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) computers. Some software is installed by default on all CCE computers, while additional software can be requested based on business need.
Standard Software
The following software will either be installed on your CCE computer or available for installation, depending on your position.
- Adobe Acrobat – Either Adobe Acrobat Reader or Adobe Acrobat Pro is installed on every computer. Review the linked KB article for more information.
- Box Drive – Box is a free service for CCE staff and affiliates that allows you to share and collaborate on documents and other files online.
- Cisco AnyConnect – VPN – Virtual Private Network (VPN) software used to access CCE and campus networks and resources when you are not in a CCE office.
- CrashPlan – Backup software that allows you to easily recover any deleted or overwritten files saved to your computer.
- CrowdStrike – Malware protection software that runs in the background and actively scans for threats on your computer. If it detects a threat, it will notify IT Support.
- Microsoft Office 365 – Includes Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Access. Cloud services include Teams, Exchange, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
- Spirion – Software that should be run periodically to scan your hard drive for potential sensitive data, such as Social Security numbers, credit card numbers, or bank account numbers.
- Zoom – Full-featured web and video conferencing service that offers online meetings and webinars.
- Web Browsers – Firefox, Chrome, and Edge are installed. You may choose your preference as the default.
Note: Do not use a personal email address when signing in to a browser for sync purposes. It is recommended that you sign in to the browser and enable sync to have your bookmarks automatically backed up. Keep in mind that some websites may work better in certain browsers — for example, Acumatica works best in Chrome.

- Adobe Acrobat Pro allows staff to edit PDF documents and create PDF forms.
