CrashPlan (formerly Code42) offers secure, real-time backup, archiving, and file versioning for computers. It also helps protect users against ransomware and fraud while simplifying the migration of local files to a new device.
Accessing Crashplan
CrashPlan backup service can be accessed in two ways:

Troubleshooting
- CrashPlan Backup Alert – What to Do
If you receive an email from noreply@crashplan.com stating your backup hasn’t run in over 7 days:
- If your computer has been off during the past week, no action is needed. Backups will resume automatically when the computer is online.
- If your computer was on during the past week, follow these steps:
- Close all open programs and files.
- Restart your computer while connected to power and the internet.
- After signing back into Windows, click the Start menu and search for CrashPlan.

- Click on Crashplan in the search results to open the app.
- In the Crashplan app, click Continue to log in
- Note: If your full Cornell email address is not in the Username field, enter that in before clicking Continue.
- Your default web browser will open.
- If you have recently signed into a Cornell website, you will see the message "Sign in successful. The CrashPlan app will be signed in automatically. You can close this window."
- OR it will open the Cornell CUWebLogin page and prompt you to login with your Cornell credentials.
- Allow CrashPlan to run a backup or manually start one.
