How to set a default account code for Konica Printers

By default, ILR Konica printers that require account codes will prompt for the account number with every print job.  This works well if you have to track the printing activity on more than one account.  However this step can be tedious and can be circumvented by following the instructions below if you only have one account number that is used to track printing.

Steps to configure a Konica printer object to use a single department printing account code on a Windows computer.  Note that each printer object in Windows has it's own settings and must be configured individually.  Printers that do not track printing with account codes will not have these setting options.

1. Go to the windows search and type in Printers & Scanners and open.

2. Click on the Konica printer you want to configure and select manage then click printer preferences

3. In the 'My Tab' tab, click the 'Authentication/Account Track' button.

4. Enter in your departmental printing account code under the password field. Department name can be left blank.  If you don't know your account code, ask your supervisor.  This should  be a seven digit account code with no spaces or dashes.

Then click 'OK'. Be sure to not just X out of the window or click cancel as it will not save your settings.  Click OK again to close the Printer Preferences dialog box.

5. Click on Printer Properties.

6.Select the Settings tab and click the Authentication Settings button

7. Un-check the box that has Popup Authentication Dialog when printing.

8. Click OK to save your settings

Note: if you change your mind and want to be prompted for an account code with every print job, leave the 'Popup Authentication Dialog when printing' box checked.  If you have any trouble with these settings please open a Service Request.
