How teaching credit is applied in the Course Banking system

A number of factors are taken info account in order for the system to derive the banked credit numbers.

Credits for teaching a class follow the following rules:

  • Teaching activities:
    • .33 for 1-credit class
    • .50 for 1.5-credit class
    • .50 for 2-credit class
    • 1.00 for 3-credit class
    • 1.00 for 4-credit class
  • Modifiers for team teaching and large classes:
    • *2 if the enrollment count is 196 or higher
    • *.25 for member of 4-instructor team
    • *.33 for member of 3-instructor team
    • *.5 for member of 2-instructor team

Modifiers for academic services:

  • Modifiers applied to faculty for the following services apply once per year:
    • +3 if they are the Dean of ILR
    • +2 if they are an associate dean
    • +1 if they are a department chair
    • +1 if they are the Director of CAHRS
    • +1 if they are the Director of Graduate Studies
    • +1 if they are the Director of the Scheinman Institute
    • +1 if they serve on the ILR Review as a co-editor
    • +.5 if they are the Worker Institute Fellow Program Coordinator
    • +.5 if they serve on the ILR Review as an associate editor
    • +.5 if they are the co-director of the Labor Dynamics Institute
