Adding New and Adjusted Segments to Journeys

Overview

Adding Segments, specifically targeted information, to a Journey can be a powerful marketing tool. 

Below are steps for adding a new Segment or adjusting a pre-existing Segment attached to a Journey.

1) If you are creating a new Segment, create the new Segment within the appropriate Subscriber List -> Save.  Review the Segment results to make sure they are accurate.  Then, add an existing field within Campaign Monitor with a bogus entry (Example: Created Date equals 1895) -> Save.  You should have zero results for the Segment.  If the Segment isn't new, continue to step 2.

2) Pause/ensure impacted Journey is Turned off.

3) For existing Segment, edit the Segment -> add a field with fake value -> Save

4) Turn Journey(s) back on.

5) Remove bogus Segment -> Save

Before going back over to the Journey to check for sent emails, glance at the Segment results after removing the phony entry to make sure the number of records returned from the saved Segment looks right.
