Review Posting Restrictions - Including Maximum E-mail Message Size
Under the Posting Restrictions tab, review the e-mail size limit and posting permissions.
Maximum E-mail Message Size
Note: The default email size limit is 4096 KB (4 MB). You can increase this limit, but larger message sizes may increase the likelihood of slow delivery or delivery issues for some recipients. (The current maximum setting is 30 MB, but if larger message sizes become a widespread issue, Cornell IT may reduce that limit in the future.)
Recommendation: Leave the default setting unless you have a specific reason to increase it. Do not set the maximum size above 10 MB. Because the setting is entered in KB, use 10240 for 10 MB. (See screenshot example below.)

Posting Restrictions
Choose who should be allowed to send messages to the list.
For most e-news and announcement lists, the recommended setting is "Choose specific people who can send messages..."
- Option 1: Discussion e-list –
Select "Allow members of specific lists to post to this list"
- This option allows all list members to send messages and reply to the entire group.
- Option 2: Announcement/e-news list –
Select "Choose specific email addresses to post to the list" and enter in each e-mail that is allowed.
- Use this option when only designated senders should be allowed to send messages to the list.

E-mail Moderation
Under Message Rejections, choose how you want messages to be handled — either sent immediately or held for administrator approval. The two recommended options are listed below.
Option A: Unmoderated (Lyris style) - Send all messages without needing admin approval
- Reject all messages that are not allowed with posting permissions
- this allows all postings that are permitted to go through without human moderation
- and rejects all other messages
Option B: Moderated (Lyris style) - Hold all messages for approval before sent
- Hold all messages for approval, reject those that are not from a sender that is allowed to post
- this holds for moderation all postings that are permitted
- and rejects all other messages
