Enter Banked Credits Spent for Faculty

Faculty can spend credits from their banked credits to count toward their teaching obligation for the year.  The Course Banking system automatically deducts the spent credits from the faculty member's obligation.  Once a faculty member has requested and received approval for using banked credits, a Dean's Office representative must enter that information into the Course Banking system as follows:

  1. Find the faculty member's Contact record (click on it in a list or search for it in the search bar.  If you search and more than one version of the person shows up, one may be a Lead and the other a Contact record.  Course Banking only works on Contact records.  The search results will show you if someone is a Lead or Contact.  If more than one Contact record shows up in a search please contact ILR Administrative Applications at ilr-admapp-reqs@cornell.edu.
  2. On the right-hand side of the screen, locate the "Banked Credits Spent" block:

  1. Click the "New" button inside that block.
  2. Enter the number of credits the faculty member wishes to spend.
  3. Enter a short explanation if needed (this is optional but highly recommended).
  4. Enter the year and term for which the credits will apply in the format of "2023SP".
  5. Click Save.
  6. After a moment, a new Teaching Activity will automatically be created in the amount of the spent credits which will be applied against the obligation total on the left side of the screen.  If this does not occur in a relatively short time or if the numbers are not changing, refresh the screen after a few moments.

Note: there is no way to carry out a "projected" spend.  The faculty member must be certain that this spend will occur.  If a spend occurs that needs to be modified or completely removed, please contact ILR Administrative Applications at ilr-admapp-reqs@cornell.edu.
