Description
The PDFill Free PDF Tools application provides a range of PDF management functions for Microsoft Windows, including merging PDF files, converting images to PDF, splitting or reordering pages, adding headers and footers, cropping pages, and rotating pages.
Note: This application requires temporary Administrator access to install on your PC. Contact your IT support if you need temporary Administrator access before proceeding.
Procedure
Downloading and Installing PDFill Free PDF Tools

- Open the Downloads folder and double-click the installation file to begin the installation.
- At the User Account Control (UAC) prompt, click Yes.
- At the Setup Welcome screen, click Next.
- Select I accept the terms in the License Agreement.
- Click Next.
- Uncheck PDFill Free PDF Editor Basic.
- Uncheck FREE PDFill PDF and Image Writer.
- Click Next.
- At the Select Installation Folder screen, click Next.
- At the Ready to Install screen, click Install.
- Click Finish.
- Close the web browser tab.
Merging PDF Files
- Double-click the PDFill PDF Tools (Free) icon.
- Select Merge PDF Files.
- Add PDF files using one of the following methods:
- Click Add PDF Files to add files individually.
- Click Add PDF Files Under a Folder to add all PDF files in a folder.
- Drag and drop PDF files into the dialog box.
- Continue adding PDF files as needed.
- If you need to rearrange the order, select a PDF file in the list and use the Move Up, Move Down, or Remove buttons as needed.
- To sort files by name in ascending order, click the Sort button. Click it again to sort in descending order.
Note: Keep your original files and do not overwrite them. Saving the merged file under a new name allows you to make refinements without affecting the originals.
- Once your list is complete and in the desired order, click Save As….
- Select a destination folder and enter a file name for the merged PDF file.
- Click Save. The resulting PDF file will open in a new tab in your PDF reader.
Converting Images to PDF
This function converts image files (bmp, jpg, gif, png, tiff, and wmf) into a single PDF file with layout options.
- Double-click the PDFill PDF Tools (Free) icon.
- Select Convert Images to PDF.
- Add image files using one of the following methods:
- Click Add Image Files to add files individually.
- Click Add All Image Files Under a Folder to add all image files in a folder.
- Drag and drop image files into the dialog box.
- Continue adding image files as needed.
- If you need to rearrange the order, select an image file in the list and use the Move Up, Move Down, or Remove buttons as needed.
- If there are multiple image files, you may configure the following layout options:
- Image Layout on each new PDF page edge: rows of images by columns of images.
- Margins from image to new PDF page edge: Left, Right, Bottom, and Top.
- Space Between Images: Horizontal and Vertical.
- Once your list is complete and in the desired order, click Save As….
- Select a destination folder and enter a file name for the PDF file.
- Click Save. The resulting PDF file will open in a new tab in your PDF reader.
Splitting, Extracting, or Reordering PDF Pages
- Double-click the PDFill PDF Tools (Free) icon.
- Select Split or Reorder Pages.
- Select a file and click Open. The application will display the total number of pages in the file.
- To extract pages from the PDF, select Split Pages From and enter the start page number and the end page number.
- If you want to save the remaining pages as a separate PDF, select Save the Other Pages as a PDF File. The output file name will include the suffix _OtherPages.
- To reorder pages, select Reorder Pages and enter the page ranges separated by commas, using the shown example.
- To delete pages, select Delete Pages and enter the page ranges separated by commas, using the shown example.
- If you want to save the deleted pages as a separate PDF, select Save the Other Pages as a PDF File. The deleted pages file name will include the suffix _OtherPages.
- Click Save As….
- Select a destination folder and enter a file name for the new PDF file.
- Click Save.
Adding a Header and Footer
- Double-click the PDFill PDF Tools (Free) icon.
- Select Add Header and Footer.
- Select a file and click Open. The application will display the total number of pages in the file.
- Click Add Header or Add Footer.
- Select whether you want to Add on the First Page.
- Select whether you want to Show Page Number.
- Enter the text to display before the page number.
- Enter the text to display after the page number.
- Select the alignment from the pull-down menu: Left, Center, or Right.
- In the Text Properties section, select the Font Name from the pull-down menu and enter the Font Size if you need to change the defaults.
- In the Margin From Edges section, enter the margin sizes for Left, Right, Top, and Bottom if you need to change the defaults.
- Click Save As….
- Select a destination folder and enter a file name for the new PDF file.
- Click Save.
Cropping PDF Pages
This function is useful when you need to remove unwanted content from the edges of a page, such as when a page does not lie flat when photocopying a bound book.
- Double-click the PDFill PDF Tools (Free) icon.
- Select Rotate or Crop PDF Pages.
- Select a file and click Open. The application will display the total number of pages in the file.
- If you want to affect a single page, select the page number from the Select Page pull-down menu.
- If you want to affect all pages, click All Pages.
- Click Crop Box to enable setting new margins.
- Click the Left Margin field, enter the new margin size, and press the Tab key. The new margin size will appear in the appropriate margin column.
- Repeat this process for the Right, Bottom, and Top margins.
- Click Save As….
- Select a destination folder and enter a file name for the new PDF file.
- Click Save.
Rotating PDF Pages
This function is useful when you need to rotate pages within a PDF.
- Double-click the PDFill PDF Tools (Free) icon.
- Select Rotate or Crop PDF Pages.
- Select a file and click Open. The application will display the total number of pages in the file.
- If you want to affect a single page, select the page number from the Select Page pull-down menu.
- If you want to affect all pages, click All Pages.
- Click Rotate By to enable the rotation direction option.
- Select the rotation direction from the pull-down menu (clockwise 90/180/270 degrees). The new rotation value will appear in the appropriate Rotate By column field.
- Click Save As….
- Select a destination folder and enter a file name for the new PDF file.
- Click Save.
- When finished, click Close.
- Click Exit.
- Click OK.
- Close the PDFill web page that opens.
