Getting Started with Claude Enterprise (Student Pilot)

As a Johnson Two-Year MBA student in this pilot, you have a Cornell-provided Claude Enterprise account. This article gets you signed in on the web and, if you want them, in the desktop and phone apps.

Not in the student pilot?

Faculty and staff using Claude through a gateway key should start at Using Claude on Cornell's AI Gateway — Start Here.

⚡ Already use Claude?

Sign in with your @cornell.edu address, choose SSO if asked, and approve Duo. Then check that the Cornell Enterprise account is selected in the account menu. Your personal account stays as it is. Read Claude Enterprise and Your Personal Claude Account before you move any work over.

Step 1 — Sign in on the web

  1. Go to claude.ai.
  2. Enter your @cornell.edu email address and continue. Don't use Continue with Google or Continue with Apple.
  3. If Claude asks you to choose a login method, choose SSO. You'll see this if you already have a personal Claude account on your Cornell address.
  4. Sign in on Cornell's page with your NetID and password, then approve the Duo prompt. It's labeled Two-Step Login - Azure, which is expected.
  5. Click your name in the bottom-left corner. The Cornell account (Cornell University or cornell.edu, marked Enterprise) should have the checkmark. If you also see Personal, that's your own account.

📧 "New sign-in to your Claude account"

After your first sign-in, Anthropic emails you that your account was signed in through an organization's single sign-on for the first time. That's expected, so no action is needed. If it wasn't you, contact JCB IT.

Step 2 — Install the apps (optional)

Claude works fully in a browser. The apps are optional, and you install them yourself.

  • Windows or Mac: download from claude.ai/download. Claude may also offer the download right after you sign in on the web. Open the app and sign in the same way as Step 1. The desktop app's Code tab is turned on for your Cornell account.
  • iPhone, iPad, or Android: install Claude by Anthropic from the App Store or Google Play. Enter your @cornell.edu address and choose SSO. On iPhone you'll see "Claude" Wants to Use "api.workos.com" to Sign In. Tap Continue: that's the service that hands you off to Cornell's sign-in page.

To check your account in the phone app, open Settings, tap your email address, and choose Cornell University (Enterprise).

If something goes wrong

What you see What to do
An email with a Sign in button instead of Cornell's sign-in page You chose Email rather than SSO. The link expires after 10 minutes, and if it shows a verification code instead of signing you in, enter the code on the Claude sign-in page. For your Cornell account, sign in again and choose SSO.
Signed in, but no Cornell account in the account menu You may not have been added yet, or you signed in with a different email. Contact JCB IT.
Desktop app says extensions have been disabled because they are not allowed in your current organization Expected if you added extensions to a personal account. They stay installed and come back when you switch to Personal.
A feature says Ask your admin for access That feature isn't turned on for the pilot. See What's Included in Claude Enterprise.
