Cornell controls which Claude features are turned on. During the pilot some are on, some are off, and some are still being decided. If you can't find something, it most likely isn't enabled.
Models
- Most current Claude models are available from the model menu in the message box.
- Fable isn't included in the pilot.
- Opus availability is still being decided.
If a model you use elsewhere doesn't appear in the menu, it isn't turned on for the pilot.
Web search and connectors
- Web search is on. Claude can search the web when a question needs current information.
- Connectors, which let Claude work with other apps and services, haven't been decided yet. Browse connectors may list some that aren't available to your Cornell account.
- Ask cornell.edu, pinned in the sidebar, searches across connected apps. It currently shows Ask your admin for access, which means it isn't turned on for the pilot.
Desktop app
- The Code tab is on.
- Only extensions Cornell has approved run in your Cornell account. Extensions you added to a personal account are switched off while you're in the Cornell account and come back when you switch.
Usage
No individual spending limit is set during the pilot. JCB IT reviews overall usage to help plan how Claude is offered going forward.
What data you can use
Low and Moderate Risk Cornell data only, the same as Cornell's AI Gateway. Don't enter High Risk data, and check with ai-support@cornell.edu before using FERPA-protected data. University Policy 5.10 defines each risk level.
Want something turned on?
Models, connectors, and usage policy are set by Cornell's AI team. Email ai-support@cornell.edu and say what you'd use it for. Requests aren't guaranteed, but they help shape what's offered after the pilot. For sign-in or setup problems, see Getting Help with the Student AI Pilot.
