Visa Application Process

Review how to trigger the i20 student visa application process for the Cornell MBA and Johnson International Academic Exchange Program applicants.

NOTE: The eSign process sends the applicant's mobile phone number as the password for the applicant to open the PDF to esign it.  Nintex expects 10 digits for the mobile phone always.  International phone numbers can be longer/shorter than 10 digits.  For now, the workaround is the ensure the Admissions Application mobile phone field is 10 digits in some combination of mobile phone and country code, then changed back after the eSign process is completed.

How the visa application works

The visa (I-20) application is for admitted Cornell MBA and Johnson International Academic Exchange Program applicants who need a student visa.

Starting it

  1. On the applicant's admissions application, click Start VisaApp Process.
  2. Salesforce emails the applicant a personal link to the visa application and gives them access to it.
  3. The first time the applicant opens the link, Salesforce creates their visa application and attaches it to their current admissions application. If one already exists, the link opens that one instead.

The visa application starts filled in from the admissions application:

  • legal first, middle and last name
  • date of birth
  • country of citizenship and country of birth
  • email address

These are copies. The applicant can change them on the visa application without changing the admissions application.

What happens at each status

Status Salesforce does this
In Progress Records the date the visa application became available and the date the first email was sent
Submitted to Admissions Emails the applicant and records the date
Incomplete Emails the applicant and records the date
Under Review Records the date
Sent for Signature Set automatically when the visa application is sent to the applicant to sign
Signed by Applicant Records the date
Sent to Office of Global Learning Emails the applicant and records the date

What the applicant can do

  • In Progress or Incomplete: they can edit and submit.
  • Any later status: they can view it but not edit it. To let them make changes, set the status back to Incomplete.
  • Uploads: the files they upload must total 30 MB or less.
