Connect to a File Share Using a Windows PC

If you are not currently connected to a Cornell network, you must first connect using the
Cisco AnyConnect VPN
software. Ask your IT support technician for documentation on getting connected to the VPN if you haven’t already done so.
Open
File Explorer
. You can do this by double clicking on This PC (Windows 10) or My Computer (Windows 7). You can also use the search functionality within Windows. Just search for
“File Explorer.”
Make sure the navigation pane is viewable. You can enable the navigation pane in the
View
settings.
Right mouse click on
This PC
in the navigation pane and select
Map network drive…
In the
Map network drive
window, choose a drive letter to map the drive to. It does not matter which drive letter you chose. Choose a letter that is not already assigned to another network drive.
Enter the
Folder
path. You will get this folder path from your IT support technician, lab manager, administrative supervisor, or faculty member.
Make sure
Reconnect at sign-in
and
Connect using different credentials
are both checked.
Click
Finish
.
A new window will pop up asking for a login. Your username should be in the format of:
CORNELL\YourNetID
. Your password will be your
NetID password
.
Click
Remember my credentials
, and then click
OK
. The network file share will open.
