Connect to the ILR VPN from the Windows Login Screen.

If you’re working remotely and need access to ILR network resources, connecting to the ILR VPN (Virtual Private Network) is essential. Under certain circumstances, such as when your computer restarts or you're locked out of your desktop, you can connect to the VPN directly from the Windows login screen before logging in to your computer account.

Why Use the VPN?

You need the ILR VPN to access critical resources like:

  • Important policy and software updates
  • ILR server shares (L: drive)
  • ILR printers
  • Remote desktop access

This process applies to devices with Cisco AnyConnect Secure Client installed. If it’s not installed, contact ILR Tech Services for assistance (administrative rights are required).

Step 3. Log In via Two-Step Authentication

You’ll need to input your credentials and complete the multi-factor authentication. Use the following details:

  • Group: Select Two-Step_Login from the dropdown menu.
  • Username: Enter your NetID in this format: yournetid@IL-VPN (use uppercase letters for "IL-VPN").
  • Password: Enter your NetID/email password.
  • Duo (Two-Step Authentication): Choose one of the following methods:
    • Push: Enter the word push in the Duo field to receive a notification on your Duo Mobile app. Approve the notification to proceed.
    • Passcode: Enter a 6-digit code generated by the Duo Mobile app or your Duo hardware token.

Note: If multi-factor authentication fails (e.g., you don’t receive a Duo push or enter an incorrect passcode), the VPN login will fail. In that case, reattempt the login process.

Click OK after entering your credentials.
