Ives Hall 217 Classroom Technology Guide

Today we walk through use of the classroom technology in room 217 in Ives Hall at the ILR School.

Presentation Mode:


Select the source device on the left side of the touch panel and then tap the projector icons to route it to the room displays.
PC Primary indicates the left podium monitor and PC Extended indicates the right podium monitor.

On the podium, use the available USB port to plug a Flash Drive into the room PC.

To us a laptop connection, connect either the HDMI or USB-C cable to your device. Select laptop, and tap the projector icons.

Zoom Rooms Mode:

If you have invited the room ilrives217@cornell.edu to your Zoom
meeting, it should appear to join on the left of the touch screen.
To host a Zoom meeting: Select New Meeting.

To join a Zoom, Teams, WebEx, or Google meeting: Click on join, select the platform and enter the Meeting ID.

Sharing content:

Wired connection for content:
Desktop allows sharing to the Zoom meeting from the in-room computer.
Wireless connection for content:
Within a meeting, share via a laptop by entering the unique sharing key into the Zoom app on your device or via share.zoom.us on the web.

Audio Controls:
The Mic slider on the touch panel adjusts the microphone volume from the ceiling and lapel microphones. There are separate mute buttons to mute the ceiling mics and the lapel mic individually.
Turn the lapel on and off using the switch on the top of the mic.

The ceiling microphones will be red when muted and green when unmuted. The Room slider adjusts the speaker volume in the room from the desktop/laptop, or Zoom participants.

Cameras:

In a meeting, all three main cameras will be automatically enabled; the presenter camera and both student cameras.
To control each camera, tap the Camera button and either select a preset, or use the arrows to move the camera left, right, up, down, and zoom in (+) / out (-).

Document Camera:
Click Share Content and select Document Camera from the Camera tab. Use the controls on the camera arm to adjust lighting and Zoom in/out.

Board Cameras:
Enable the blackboard cameras on the touch panel. Then blank the screen to pause the projection and raise the screen up to view the blackboard.

Chat / Breakout

Recording:
Scheduled meetings that had been set to automatically record, or clicking the record button during the meeting, will send the recording to the meeting host.

*New meetings started in the room are unable to start a recording without an individual being the host.


Shutting Down
When you have completed use of the system, please ensure to end your Zoom meeting and select System Shutdown and then Shut Down.

Troubleshooting:
1. If the monitor screens are blank, is the PC on? Look in the podium for a white light on the power button of the Dell PC.
2. If your scheduled meeting isn’t listed, did you invite the room? If not, invite the room, or join via the Meeting ID and passcode.
3. Trouble using laptop, is the HDMI or USB-C cable connected? Is the wireless sharing key correct?
4. No audio with your video? Is the source or system muted? Is the video player on the device muted?
