Account Strategy

Summary

Body

***This article is a work in progress.***

Account Strategy is available in the C&I app and External Relations app for users with the Account Strategy permission set.

A single account can have multiple Account Strategy records associated.  The Account Strategy is designed to have one Account Strategy per year.  From the Account Strategy record, each department can create their own Department Strategy record, meaning a single Account Strategy record can have multiple Department Strategy records associated with it.

Account Strategy Document

The Account Strategy document is created from the Account Strategy record.  Only staff with a Nintex license can create the Account Strategy Document.  The generated document will be available for download, and can optionally be stored on the Account Strategy record.  Access to the generated Account Strategy document can be controlled by adjusting permissions on the File itself.  Review How to manage File permissions for more details.

Generate Account Strategy Document

Navigate to the Account Strategy record, then use the Create Document button in the action menu to start the document generation process.

On the next screen, select Account Strategy Document as the document you want to create.  Then, select the delivery method: Download is already selected, and you have the option to Attach to Account Strategy.  If you select Attach to Account Strategy, the document will automatically upload to the Files section of the Account Strategy and anyone with access to the Account Strategy record will have access to the File.

Once you have selected the delivery method, click Run.  You will see a loading bar on the screen, and once it is complete, there will be a link on the screen to download the PDF file.

Manage Account Strategy Template

To access the Account Strategy Document template, search for DocGen Package in the App Launcher search, then select DocGen Pacakages.  Select the Account Strategy Document template.

View the word document template from the Documents tab.  That will also tell you which fields from the Account and Account Strategy populate the Account Strategy Document.

Glossary

Account

The Account represents the Company.  Various fields on the Account are included in the Account Strategy:

Contacts

Contacts represent the staff that work for a Company.

Affiliations

Affiliations represent the relationship between a Contact and an Account.  An Affiliation has roles, which indicate the relationship.  For example, a role can be Key Champion (for Company staff) or a Cornell Account Team Member (for Cornell staff).

Account Strategy

The Account Strategy object is where the details of the Account Strategy live.  The Account Strategy object is tied to the Account object, so it can pull details from the Account as well.

Department Strategy

Department Strategy records are related to the Account Strategy object.  This is where individual departments enter their strategy.  By using an associated object, there is no limit to the number of strategies or the departments completing a Department Strategy.

Salesforce Admin Notes:

  • The Account Strategy page is a Lightning record page, so to add fields to the page, you need to update the Lightning record page.
  • Account Strategy visibility is based on having the Custom Permission Account Strategy.  It is part of the Account Strategy permission set, along with the object permissions.
