Mogli SMS

Mogli SMS is the Salesforce managed packaged used to send SMS text messages through Salesforce.

NOTE: To stop Mogli from running when you don't want it to, mark the Gateway records as Inactive.   Just remember to active them after!

• This will cause the message send to fail, so do this with caution.

Phase 1

Phase 1 of the Mogli SMS implementation is automated text messages through Salesforce to applicants for the Two-year Ithaca MBA, Cornell Executive MBA Americas, Cornell Executive MBA (Metro NY), and Executive MBA/MS in Healthcare Leadership programs.

Opt-In Process

The SMS opt in process is controlled at the application level.  There is a button component that allows for opt-in within the 'Personal Information' section of the application, but does not allow for deselection ('opt out').

• Once an applicant has opted in to receiving SMS messages, unless they opt out by replying 'Stop' to the text message, then they are considered opted in for all programs and will receive SMS messages.  
• If an applicant has opted out of text messages, they will need to text 'Start' to the phone number prior to receiving further text messages.

Phone Numbers (Gateways)

Each MBA program has their own phone number, called a Gateway by Mogli.

Automated messages will be sent to applicants from the program's Gateway.  These Gateways can also receive incoming text messages, such as opt-in messages.

Automated Message Templates and Triggers

The SMS Templates object in Salesforce contains the message templates used in the automated message sends.

• The Name of the SMS Templates record is used in the automations to send the text message.  The Name values should not be changed, as it will break the automations.
• The Text field contains the actual message that will send from the automation.  They include merge fields that will populate from the Admissions Application record.
  • The Admissions Application merge fields MUST be listed in the Mogli Integrated Objects custom metadata type in order to populate in the message send.
  • The Mogli Merge Field Placeholder field on the Admissions Application object can be used to populate a value from other records to send in the message template.

The Gateway record is the phone number from which messages send.  There is a unique phone number for each Admissions program.

• The Admissions Program Tag field indicates which program the Gateway belongs to, which is used in the automations to assign the Default Gateway, and as a default to send messages as a backup.
• Sandbox - the official gateways only work in Production, but a new or existing Gateway can be activated in a sandbox by contacting Mogli support. 
  • Assign the 'Sandbox' value in the Admissions Program Tag for the automations to work.
