If your Outlook email pane, reading pane, or folder layout has changed unexpectedly, you can restore it by copying the view from a folder that still looks correct and applying it to the folder that looks wrong.
Before you begin
- These steps are for Outlook for Windows (classic).
- Changing a view only affects how a folder is displayed — your emails are never moved or deleted.
Steps
-
Find a folder that looks the way you want.
- For example, if your Inbox looks normal, use it as the template.
-
Save that folder's view.
- Click the View tab at the top of Outlook.
- Click Change View, then Save Current View as a New View.
- Give it a name you'll recognize (for example, My Normal View), then click OK.
-
Apply that view to the problem folder.
- Go to the folder that looks wrong.
- Click the View tab, then Change View.
- Select the view you just saved from the list.
-
Check your results.
- The folder should now match the layout you wanted.
- If something still looks off, contact JCB IT Support for help.
Tip
💡 This only changes how a folder is displayed — your emails are never affected.
