Overview
JCB-managed Macs let you grant yourself temporary administrator access through the Self Service app. Each elevation lasts 30 minutes, after which your account returns to standard privileges.
Before you begin
- You are on a JCB-managed Mac with the Self Service app installed.
- You are signed in as your own user account.
Steps
- Open Finder from the Dock at the bottom of your screen.
- In the Finder sidebar, click Applications.
- Locate and open Self Service.
- In the Self Service search bar, type
Temporary Admin Access.
- Click the Elevate button.
- Wait for the pop-up notification confirming that temporary administrator rights have been granted for 30 minutes.
- Click OK to dismiss the notification.
Expected result
Your account has administrator rights for the next 30 minutes, allowing you to install software or make changes that require an administrator.
Troubleshooting
- Need more time? If you still require administrator access after the 30-minute window expires, repeat these steps to request another session.
- Don't see Self Service or the Temporary Admin Access item? Contact the Helpdesk so we can confirm your Mac is enrolled in management.
