Accessing E-mail and Resources in the Office

Volunteers are set up with access to a CCE computer while working in the office or, when applicable, off-site at events.

You may have two login options depending on your situation:

  1. Your Sponsored NetID credentials – When only YOU will be using the computer
see #2 exception for Master Gardener (MG) volunteers
    • If you are in the office, connected to the Cornell network, and will be the only one using the computer while logged into it - you can log in with your own NetID credentials.
    • NEVER log in as yourself and then hand it over to someone else to use.
      • If the computer will be handed to someone to give a presentation, talk to your local IT contact about the limited local "Presentation" account.
    • Out of office computer use - If this is the first time logging into a newly loaned computer - Sign into the computer once while you are in the office before taking it off-site. After that, you should be able to sign in later even when you’re not on the CCE network.
      • Note:  If you are already out of the office and have never logged into this specific CCE computer before, you may need to:
        • (if internet access available) use the Cisco VPN “Connect Before Login” feature to log in with your NetID credentials.
For instructions, see: Article - Cornell VPN
        • OR use the local “Presentation” account.

  2. Master Gardener login – When multiple MG volunteers will be working on the MG computer.
    • Use the dedicated MG account to log into the MG computer and access the group e-mail account.  This computer profile is set up and available to use for those working with the Master Gardener hotline program.
    • Do NOT share this account password with CCE staff or volunteers UNLESS approved by the Executive Director.
      • If you believe this password has been compromised in any way, immediately notify your program manager and/or the Executive Director.

If you were not assigned a computer and need one for program work, please see your local program manager, CCE IT contact or Executive Director for a list of available extra computers and the procedure for signing one out.
