Restoring Data from CrashPlan

If you've lost, accidentally deleted, or wish to recover previous version of files (or folders) from CrashPlan (formerly Code42), please see the instructions below.
 

Procedure

Personal Productivity Device

To restore data from your own personal productivity device backups, you must have Two-Step Login enabled for your Cornell NetID.  Instructions for restoring data from your backup can be found on CIT's Website.

For recovery of data from a personal productivity device to anyone other than the primary user of that computer, the following process will apply.

  1. The manager/PI documents what needs to be restored (folder or file details) from what computer (ideally hostname, if not available, use make/model and serial number) a
  2. Send that request to your department manager.
  3. Department manager will coordinate approval through CALS HR.
  4. CALS HR or department manager will send that request to CALS OIT for processing.

Shared Device

For data security reasons, requests to restore data from a shared device must be fulfilled by CALS OIT.  Please have the owner (PI for shared lab computers, or Dept. Administrative Manager for shared dept. computers) of the computer in question request CALS OIT's assistance via our web form.  Please include the name, or serial number, of the computer you wish to restore data from.
