How to Withdraw a Project Request

Summary

How to withdraw a draft (Not Submitted) project request in the JCB IT Portal, and who to contact if it's already submitted.

Body

Who this is for / when to use it

Use this if you started a project request in the JCB IT Portal and no longer need it. You can withdraw a request yourself only while it is still a draft (status Not Submitted). Once you submit a request, you can't withdraw it yourself.

Before you start

  • Your request must have a status of Not Submitted. This is the status after you click Save but before you click Submit.
  • If your request shows Submitted, see Already submitted? below.

Steps

  1. Open your draft request. Do one of the following:
    • Right after saving: on the Draft Request Created: Further Action Required page, click Review and Submit.
    • Later: in the JCB IT Portal, go to Services → Project Requests and open your request.
  2. Check that the status in the top-right corner reads Not Submitted.
  3. Click Withdraw. A Withdraw Request window opens.
  4. In Comments, enter a short reason for withdrawing the request, then click Save.
  5. The status in the top-right corner changes to Withdrawn.

Common problems / if that didn't work

  • I don't see a Withdraw button. Your request has already been submitted (the status reads Submitted, and only Print is shown). You can't withdraw it yourself. See Already submitted? below.

Already submitted?

Once you submit a request, the Withdraw button no longer appears. To withdraw a submitted request, contact Kate Vitti, Associate Director, Project Solutions & Custom Development, at kmr4@cornell.edu and ask her to withdraw it for you.
