Salesforce controls all aspects of Pardot users, including access, permissions/profile, and deactivation. Additionally, Salesforce field values override Pardot field values, including email address. Anyone who needs access to Pardot must have a Salesforce license with the appropriate Salesforce profile and permissions. The user must have a unique email address.
Emails sent from Pardot will be sent using the email address on the Salesforce user record.
Access to Pardot
Add the Salesforce user to the Public Group 'Pardot Users' to give user access to Pardot. Level of access to Pardot features is governed by the Salesforce user profile - Pardot role mapping from the Pardot Connector page. When a Salesforce user is inactivated in Salesforce, it is also removed from Pardot.

This is for group mailboxes that need to be created as users in Pardot for various email alerts but do not need access to Salesforce or Pardot, nor the ability to login.
- Create Salesforce user with an Identity license and Identity User Pardot profile.
- Add the user to the Pardot Users public group.
- Check that their user is created in Pardot.
