How to Reset Your Printer Configurations

Summary

Remove and refresh your JCB-Print printers on a Windows computer so the correct printers are restored to your machine.

Body

Before you begin

  • A Windows computer. These instructions apply to Windows only; they do not apply to Mac.
  • You are signed in to your computer and connected to the network, either on campus or through VPN.

Steps

  1. Open the Start menu, then select Settings (the gear icon).
  2. Select Devices.
  3. In the left menu, select Printers & scanners.
  4. If any printers named JCB-Print are listed, select each one and choose Remove device.
  5. In the system tray at the lower-right of your screen (near the date and time), click Show hidden icons (the ^ arrow).
  6. Right-click the printer management icon.
  7. Select Refresh Configurations.
  8. Repeat steps 1 through 3 and confirm the correct printers have been added back to your machine.

Expected result

The correct JCB-Print printers appear again in Printers & scanners, ready to use.

Troubleshooting

Before you report a problem, try these quick checks:

  • Check your connection: confirm your computer is connected to the network, either on campus or through VPN, then try the refresh again.
  • Run the refresh again: repeat the Refresh Configurations step and wait a moment for the printers to reappear.
  • Restart your computer: sign out, restart, then check Printers & scanners again.

Only remove printers named JCB-Print. Removing other printers can disconnect devices that will not be restored by Refresh Configurations.
