Connecting to the JCB-VPN Before Logging In

Before logging into your Cornell owned computer for the first time, you must connect to the Cornell VPN so the computer can verify your credentials. These instructions will walk you through connecting to the VPN.
**This only needs to be done if you are logging into your computer for the first time off-campus.

You will not need to follow this process for subsequent logins.

1. Connect your laptop to your home wi-fi network by clicking the globe icon in the lower right corner of the login screen.

2. Once you’re connected to your home wi-fi network, click the button in the lower right corner that looks like two displays on top of each other.

3. This will open Cisco AnyConnect. Click “Connect." In the login window that opens, enter netID@JCB-VPN in the username field and your netID password in the password field.

4. In the field labelled “DUO Passcode” OR “Second Password”, enter the method you would like to use to authenticate with Duo.

For example: enter “push” (without quotations) to receive a Duo push notification to your phone, enter “phone” to receive a phone call, or enter “SMS” to receive a text verification code.

5. Once you are successfully connected, a new icon will show in the bottom right corner with an “X” inside a circle. You may now sign into your computer for the first time using your netID and password.

If you are unsuccessful or have any further questions, please email itrequests@business.cornell.edu and someone will reach out to you for assistance.
