Connecting to Your Home WiFi Network (From a PC)

Connecting to Your Home WiFi Network (From a PC)

These instructions will walk you through connecting your JCB Windows laptop to your home WiFi network.

> ⚠️ Note for JCB Desktop Users: JCB desktops do not come equipped with built-in WiFi. You will need to connect your desktop to your home router using an ethernet cable instead.

---

Step 1: Open the Network Menu

  1. Look for the network icon in the bottom-right corner of your taskbar (it may look like a globe, a WiFi signal, or a computer monitor)
  2. Click the network icon to open the available networks panel

---

Step 2: Select Your Home Network

  1. Look through the list for the name of your home WiFi network
  2. Click on your network name to select it

---

Step 3: Connect

  1. Check the box that says "Connect automatically" — this ensures your laptop reconnects to your home WiFi in the future without having to repeat these steps
  2. Click "Connect"

---

Step 4: Enter Your WiFi Password (If Required)

If your home WiFi network is password protected, you will be prompted to enter your password.

  1. Type in your home WiFi password
  2. Click "Next" or press Enter

> ⚠️ Note: JCB IT does not have access to your home network password. If you are unsure of your WiFi password or need assistance, you will need to contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

---

Troubleshooting

Can't find your network in the list?

  • Make sure your WiFi router is powered on
  • Try clicking the refresh icon or closing and reopening the network panel
  • Move closer to your router if the signal is weak

Connected but no internet access?

  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting to your network
  • Restart your router by unplugging it, waiting 30 seconds, and plugging it back in
  • Contact your ISP if the issue persists

Password not being accepted?

  • Double-check that Caps Lock is not on
  • Verify the password with your ISP or check the label on the back/bottom of your router

---

Important Notes

JCB Laptops only — desktops require an ethernet cable connection

✅ Use "Connect automatically" so you don't need to repeat these steps each time

✅ For home network password issues, contact your Internet Service Provider (ISP) — JCB IT cannot assist with home network credentials
