Request a Scheduled Panopto Recording

Use the Scheduled Panopto Recording Request form (attached to this article) to have a classroom recording scheduled for you. Recordings can be uploaded directly to your Canvas course. Fill in each section of the form as described below, then submit a ticket to IT.

Before you start

  1. Confirm Panopto is enabled in your Canvas course. This must be done before you submit the form; otherwise we cannot locate the correct course when scheduling the recording.
  2. Have this information ready: the room, the date(s) and times of the recording, and your Canvas course name exactly as it appears on the course Home Page.

Step 1: Download the form

Open the Attachments section of this article and download the Scheduled Panopto Recording Request PDF.

Step 2: Fill in Basic Information

  • Desired Title Name: the title you want the recording to have.
  • Room: the room where the recording will take place.

Step 3: Fill in Recording Information

Complete only one of the two sections below.

Single Recording (one session)

  • Date
  • Time Start
  • Time End

Recurring Recording (a repeating series, such as a class for the whole semester)

  • Start Date and End Date
  • Days of the Week (for example, Mon/Wed)
  • Time Start and Time End

Tip: Include AM or PM with every time.

Step 4: Fill in Recording Upload Information

  • Canvas Course Name: the wording must be exact. Open your Canvas course, go to its Home Page, and copy the course name word for word, including punctuation and section numbers. The example image on the form shows where to find it (highlighted in yellow).

Step 5: Submit the form

Save the completed form and submit a ticket with IT.

Common reasons a request is delayed

  • Panopto is not enabled in the Canvas course.
  • The Canvas course name does not exactly match the course Home Page.
  • Both the Single Recording and Recurring Recording sections are filled in.
