Overview
This article explains how to open a recording in the VOD editor, trim the beginning and end, remove a section from the middle, and save your changes.
Cornell Video on Demand (VOD) is Cornell's Kaltura-based video service at vod.video.cornell.edu. Zoom cloud recordings and uploaded videos appear under My Media.
Prerequisites
- A Cornell NetID and password.
- A recording in your VOD My Media list (you must be its owner or have edit rights).
Open the Editor

- Go to vod.video.cornell.edu.
- Click the My Media tab.
- Sign in with your Cornell NetID and password.
- Click the title of the video you wish to edit.
- Click the Actions drop-down and select Edit.

- Click the Launch Editor button.

Zoom the Timeline

Use this slider to zoom in on the timeline, which makes it easier to select an exact start and end time.
Trim the Beginning and End

- The blue bar (playhead) shows where you are in the video. Drag it to the point where you want the video to start.
Click the start trim button (left bracket). Everything before the blue bar is trimmed, and that point becomes the new start time.- Drag the blue bar to the point where you want the video to end.
Click the end trim button (right bracket). Everything after the blue bar is trimmed, and that point becomes the new end time.
Remove a Section from the Middle

- Drag the blue bar to the start of the section you want to remove and click the scissors button.

- Play or drag the blue bar to the end of the section you want to remove and click the scissors button again.
- Click the center of the section to select it. Yellow brackets appear on both sides of the selected section.

- Click the trash can to delete the section.

- The removed section now appears grayed out.

Save Your Changes
- When you have finished trimming, click Save to replace the original video, or Save a Copy to keep the original and save the edited version as a new entry.

Note: Save overwrites the original recording. If you may need the untrimmed version later, use Save a Copy.
