How to edit an existing Contact

You need edit permission to update specific fields. This may vary by individual.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Find the Contact you need to edit by doing a search or clicking on the record from another page.
  2. To change an individual field, click on the Details tab, click on the pencil/icon to the right of the field, enter the updated data, and click Save.
  3. To update multiple fields, click the Edit button, update the appropriate fields, and click Save.

The "Edit Contact" form can't update the Contact Owner or Contact Record Type. To update these, follow step 2 and update them individually. Alternatively, look for these next to the Edit button:

  4. The change is now visible for all other Salesforce users with permissions to view the contact record.
