Body
There are approximately 350 student employees in the Library who we rely upon for office support, technological services, preservation and conservation work, circulation, opening and closing the libraries, and information assistance.
Mr. William F. Fuerst, Jr. '39, endowed a fund to recognize the achievements of library undergraduate student employees. This recognition program provides a tangible and meaningful way to clearly show our appreciation for the contributions of our library student employees.
Fuerst Award winners are selected on the basis of their exceptional performance, initiative, and service to the library. Nominations are generally made by the student's supervisor, but may be made by anyone in the Library community. A committee with representatives from throughout the Library system selects the winners for this prestigious award. Each of the selected students will receive a monetary award along with the recognition.
The Fuerst Award allows us to annually recognize our top student employees with the largest monetary award on campus.
