Dear colleagues,
The SSC recently announced that non-conventional and e-commerce lodgings (eg AirB&B) are now allowable options at the university ONLY if booked using personal funds. The SSC has confirmed that the exception process whereby T&M card holders were able to get approval to use their T&M card for AirB&B bookings is now forbidden and no exceptions will be granted. If you use your T&M card to book AirB&B you will receive a violation leading to card suspension and repeated violations may potentially lead to card revocation. SSC's announcement is below to read in full.
While I usually do my part to follow the university's policies and procedures, I must admit to some trouble with this one and I will be bringing this issue up at the SSC's listening tour with the college tomorrow. It strikes me as contradictory to the policy meaning of "allowable," which historically at Cornell for payments has meant "there's an acceptable institutional payment method" to now be used to describe an activity that is in fact not allowed.
Best,
Trisica
