2026/05/07 [attn req] changes to dept FedEx/express mailing process

Dear colleagues,

I'm writing to share a small but important change to departmental mailing support. Due to staffing reductions, we're no longer able to create FedEx shipping labels at the department level. When we had a dedicated purchasing representative, tracking and reconciling FedEx shipments was straightforward. Without that role, managing these transactions after the fact has taken significant staff time to investigate and process.

Importantly, there is no change to metered mailing services, which remains accessible in our mailroom. Please use the options below for express or other special mailings.

Options for express mailings

  • Big Red Shipping Center in Cornell Campus Store: UPS & USPS

  • Uncle Marty's Shipping in Collegetown (206A Dryden Rd): Fed-Ex

  • Individual accounts with Fed-Ex/UPS: groups may setup individual Fed-EX accounts tied to a Pcard to process mailing labels

Regular USPS Mail Metering: still supported and available in 130 Upson Mailroom

  • Assemble mail and fill out metering form

Low-Cost Courier Service (limited to local area)

I'm grateful for your understanding and flexibility as we adapt our services with fewer resources. This change helps ensure our staff can sustain the critical work that supports our faculty, students, research, and teaching.

Best,

Trisica
