Awards, Prizes, and Reimbursements

Payments from Cornell Law School (CLS) to students are processed through university financial systems. Those systems information comes directly from the information provided by the payee and has to correspond to the payee’s legal name, which is validated against the IRS database.  Some payments are taxable and may require IRS form 1099 reporting using the legal name associated with the taxpayer identification number.  Notifications from these systems will also include legal name.
