CALS-OIT offers Research IT consulting services to connect all CALS researchers (Faculty, Post-Docs, Graduate students, etc.) to the full array of Cornell’s technology resources. We help turn your research vision into a solid plan that addresses your information technology needs, as well as grant restrictions and regulatory requirements. We will advise you on the following options.

Accelerate your research by advising you how best to design and configure hardware, software and services according to best practices. Once your system is operational, we will help you understand who will provide ongoing maintenance to your system (see hosting and co-location below). |

Advise you about Cornell supported offerings that can provide High Performance Computing (HPC) compute power for social and biological research. |
| Cloud Computing |
Evaluate the Amazon and Microsoft cloud computing services for the best-fit-compute, storage, database and web services. We will also help you leverage Cornell's discounts and billing integration with these providers. |
| Storage and Backup |
Determine the ideal storage and backup options that fit your data access requirements and classifications. |
| Hosting and Colocation |
Discover managed and unmanaged environments to host services or hardware. |
| Software and Hardware |
We will spec out and provide quotes so you can acquire the right servers, computers or peripherals and ensure they meet Cornell’s maintenance and security requirements. |

We can direct you to Cornell’s on-line and in-person training that will help you use your tools to their fullest potential. |
| Grant Proposal Development |
Identify and budget for compute or storage services to conduct research. Acquire estimates for IT solutions to include in your research budget. |

Advise you on developing a data management plan for your research project. |
| Data Security consulting |
Advise you on complying with or developing a data use agreement or data security plan for your research project. |
